About
In 1959, a small group of Ukrainian Orthodox faithful assembled and formed a new Ukrainian Greek Orthodox congregation in Edmonton under the name of St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Parish. To give beauty and piety to the Liturgical worship of the newly formed church, steps were taken immediately to form a church choir.
For a number of years the Liturgy was sung by the congregation at-large along with a core of members working towards developing a choir. Finally in 1963, Mr. Myroslaw Muzyka was invited to organize and develop a formal choir. Through Mr. Muzyka’s untiring efforts and unselfish dedication of the many church members the Andrew’s choir has evolved into an important aspect of the parish. During the last 12 years the choir, in addition to contributing specifically to the Liturgy of St. Andrew’s Parish, has also added to the religious and cultural dimensions of the overall Canadian mosaic.
